Welcome to the Royal Discount Microsoft Licensing information page. Microsoft offers several programs designed to fit any company’s software  needs.  Whether you need as few as 5 licenses or as many as 20,000, Royal Discount can help you with your IT needs.

Open Business
Open Business offers discounts over estimated retail pricing when you order a minimum of 5 licenses for qualified Microsoft products.  Once you have purchased under the Open Business licensing program you can continue to receive the same discounted rate for all future licensing purchases within a 2 year period.  There is no minimum reorder quantity, but you have to start with a minimum purchase of 5 licenses. Initial orders over 499 can qualify for Open Volume, however, multiple orders under the same licensing agreement do not accrue and become Open Volume.  For example, if you order 200 licenses under the Open Business Agreement and then 1 month later order 300 licenses, you will not qualify for Open Volume.  The total of the order must be over 499 in one product pool to qualify for the Open Volume.

Open Volume
Open Volume Licensing is available to companies that wish to purchase larger quantities of software.  There are significant discounts associated with Open Volume pricing.  There must be a total of 500 licenses to receive Open Volume.

Software Assurance (SA)
The Software Assurance program allows your company to attain the latest version of Microsoft products.  The Software Assurance Program entitles you to 2 years of upgrades.  For example, if you buy Office 2007 Professional now with Software Assurance you will be licensed for future releases of Office Professional.

Backwards Compatibility
You may only purchase the latest release of any particular license.  So how does that allow you to get licensed for older versions of the software?  The most recent version of the license entitles the user to run any previous version.  For example, when you purchase the Office 2007 Professional license you are entitled to use and run Office 2003 Professional.  You will need to purchase the "media kit" for the older version to install the software and that can be obtained through Microsoft's eOpen website.  Similarly, if you want to get SQL 2003 Enterprise 25 Client, you will need to buy the licenses for the SQL 2005 Enterprise and 25 CALs and purchase the media kit for the SQL 2003.
